Research and planning – Digipak: Drafts of digipak

Research and planning – Digipak: Drafts of digipak

After looking at key features and details that need to be included with the music video and digipak such as Artist name, track list and any other conventions that needed to be added. We then need to create the draft for our digipak and then making suitable changes once we have received feedback so it can meet our target audience expectations. We need to ensure that digipak is presented correctly towards our target audience to ensure that the album is a success.

Draft 1

Album Cover

Rear Cover
Sub Image on the left side
And CD Cover is on the Right Side

Analyse your use of conventions using PEER

  • I have included an image of the main artist on the cover. On the CD Cover and the Sub Image the artist is looking towards the camera and on the front cover, the shot I use was a medium-close up rather than a medium shot which I used for other the shots. This is a conventional use of cinematography.
  • The title of the Album is "Tied to life" which is based on songs throughout the artist life. This is used to provoke a reaction and emotional response from the audience.
  • We have tried to keep the layout consistent as possible.
  • The information that we have included is conventional to most digipak e.g album name, album title etc and we have kept the information simple as possible because it should reflect the target audience and their social class.
  • The sub image I have included is used to promote the artist throughout the digipak to promote the image of the artist himself.

What I like about it?

I really like the front cover looks really neat, especially with the artist crouching, Most of the things I expect to be in a cd pack (digipak) seem to be there. And looks consistent throughout.

What didn't I like about it

The sub image and CD Cover feel off compared to the other images you used.
Fonts need to be changed I feel like the fonts that you have used look recognisable. And you need to add the parental advisory logo.

Conclusion

Creating the drafts for the digipak allowed us to get feedback which helped us creating the final version of the Digipak. The main changes we did with the digipak was with the sub-images and the CD Cover with minor changes with the Front Cover. The main changes were with the typography since the current ones look kinda horrible. Additionally, we made changes add a few effects to the cd cover made it look darker and sinister at the same time more relevant to the album topic.Without going through a process of getting feedback and drafting our digipak would look less effective and would make less of an impact.
